Winter in May

by velopeloton on May 14, 2010 · 0 comments

We have had more snow last night and this morning, with temperatures down to – 10°c on the Col du Tourmalet.  Most of the climbs are closed today above 1000m and the forecast for tomorrow is for more of the same. Sunday should see a change with temperatures for next week up to 25°c.

Meteo France say it is the coldest May in the Pyrénées since 1987 and Carcassonne has recorded its coldest May temperature since 1949, on May 4th it was 6°c, the previous record was 7.4°c. Hopefully next week will see the end of the cold spell and the return of more seasonal weather.
