Tour de France 2012 Route Presentation has taken place in the Palais des Congrès convention centre in Paris. The route was as the leak last week.

There will be 2 Etape du Tour Mondovelo in 2012. ASO confirm the Etape du Tour rides will be Albertville > La Toussuire (140km) in the Alps + Pau > Bagnères-de-Luchon (197km) in Pyrenees .

ASO website publish route of tour de France 2012 (mistakenly). It is only one page, all the links from the page to other pages about the route return an error. The map displayed is of the 2011 Tour de France.

The link has now been deactivated by ASO. Someone is going to be in big trouble!
I screen grabbed it off the Le Tour website. It has now been removed.
I was looking at the 2011 site and wondered what I would see if I changed the url from 2011 to 2012. Non of the links worked so no details of the route. I think there must be a lot of shouting and swearing going on in Paris right now.

The 2012 Tour de France will be the 99th Tour de France. The 2012 Tour de France will start in the Belgian city of Léige, on Saturday 30th June (early start due to Olympics) and will finish in Paris on Sunday 22nd July. This page is for route rumors before the announcement and for route information after the official announcement.

2012:

Liege, Belgium. Saturday 30th June to Sunday 22nd July. The early start is to allow riders prepare for the London Olympics.

The Tour will most likely head to Normandy after leaving Belgium and then to the Alps followed by the Pyrenees in the last week.

In the Alps 10th to 14th approx.
In the Pyrénées 16th to 20th, approx.

2013: 100th Tour de France.

Corsica. Saturday 6th July to Sunday 28th July.
In the Pyrénées 10th to 12th, approx.
There will be 3 stages in Corsica before the tour heads to the French mainland and into the Pyrénées, it will also be the first time that the tour has visited the island. Other rumors include an ITT on Mont Ventoux.

Applications are reported from Qatar, Venice, Florence, Barcelona, Berlin, Scotland and Yorkshire.

Barcelona is the favourite. Saturday 5th July to Sunday 27th July.

    Rumor is that stage 4 will be from Lille to Rouen on 4th July 2012. Seems a bit long, perhaps towns near to them.

        Very strong vibes about this being the last mountain stage of the Tour on or about the 19th July. Possibly be one of the Etape du Tour 2012 the Monday before, 16th July with a start in Pau.

    There are reports that ASO have been booking up hotels near Metz for the night of 6th July 2012. The Town of Yutz to the north of Metz will host a stage of the Tour de l'Avenir this year. Will Le Tour have a stage finish there on 6th July?

    There are reports that ASO have been booking rooms in the Swiss town of Porrentruy for the night of 7th July 2011. This would be stage 7 and 8, after the tour will be in the Alps. Romours are for a stage finish at la Toussuire.

      It is still 2 and a half months until the route is announced so I am sure that there will be big changes to that above before then.

    Spanish newspaper “Navarre Diary” is reporting that the Tour will have a stage from Saint Lary to the mountain top finish at Pierre Saint Martin. This would be a mega stage over Col d’Aspin, Col du Tourmalet, Col du Soulor, Col d’Aubisque, Col du Marie Blanque and the finishing climb to Pierre Saint Martin. The climb to Pierre Saint Martin is 20km at 6%.

    It is also reporting a possible stage finish in Barcelona, before going into the Pyrenees (Barcelona is a candidate for the Grand Depart in 2014). There is much speculation that after the stage to Pierre Saint Martin, there would be a stage from Pau to Pamploma where the final TT would take place before an air transfer to Paris. This news report is ruling that out.

    The ski station at Pierre Saint Martin will be celebrating 50 years in 2012.

    More speculation on L’Alpe d’Huez for next year. They seem to be suggesting that as Pierre Rolland won the stage it would be natural for the ASO to include it.

    As is often being repeated they talk about possible ITT as in 2004.
    They say the Tourmalet will be included next year.

    It also repeats a rumour I heard a few weeks ago that the Giro may go to L’Alpe d’Huez next year also.

    Alberville – La Toussuire. Start at Bourg St Maurice and go over Col D’Iseran? Would be a shame to have the highest true pass so early in a stage.

      16 stages correct and 5 unknown or wrong, although I did have the names of Pau, Samatan and Brive, just no details. Funny thing is it was the ones closed to me that were unknown.

          I had heard that Luchon was a possibility, I could not see how it fitted in with Pierre-Saint-Martin. It didn’t!
          I think Pierre-Saint-Martin will be on the route of the 2013 Tour. You can follow that route here.
