Tour de France 2011

Not long now. The team presentations are live on TV this afternoon and we already have our first drug scandal, plus the unfinished one from last year and the possible upcoming trial of Lance Armstrong. Fantastic! The UCI have really failed all cycling fans with the Contador disaster, it should have been resolved before Christmas. Should Contador win the Tour and then be banned in August, two Tour de France and one Giro will have the winner disqualified. Disaster! It is also possible that he will be declared innocent and the decision of the Spanish Federation will be upheld. Contador is innocent until proven otherwise, the UCI on the other hand, is simply a disgrace! 13 Years after the Festina Affair this should all have been history by now, instead it is a recurring nightmare, Ground Hog day again. The answer is simple, anyone who is proven to have doped or been involved in doping is banned from the sport for life. From racing, from coaching, from team management, from administration, from club membership, completely. There are lots of young riders out there who want to race clean, lots of team managers and administrators with clean records, they are the ones deserving of our support and our respect, not the likes of Riis, Vino or Millar or god help us, Rico.

Rant over. Now enjoy the Tour de France.
