I rode up to Pont Napoleon with some guests this morning. I took the easy option and went back home while Paul & Pete, from Swansea, South Wales,UK, rode on up to Cirque de Troumouse.

Pont Napoleon connects the two villages of Luz and Saint Sauveur either side of the Gorge du Luz across the Gave du Pau river. The bridge is 80 meters above the river and is used for bungee jumping.

The mountain to the left of the above photo is Luz Ardiden where Le Tour de France will have a stage finish on 14th July 2011.
Chéze
On the way back I took the back road down the Gorge du Luz through the village of Chéze. I highly recommend this route even though there is a bit more climbing than the main road, it is much more beautiful and traffic free. In the above photo you can see the village of Viscos across the gorge. This is also a stunningly beautiful village on the hard road up to Luz Ardiden, not the easy way that the Tour de France takes.
