20 years ago today Miguel Indurain won his first Tour de France, to celebrate he went for a cycle in the Pyrenees with some friends.

Thanks for posting those Miguel Indurain photos, great shots and he looks very fresh! Hope to get out with velopeloton in the near future.
Thanks,
Mark
Thanks Mark. He is in great shape. He was motoring up the climb, no problem.
Agreed – he looks like he could still turn the pedals with anger if he wanted. Always enjoyed watching Big Mig….
Paddy, my favourite TdeF winner. Will be in Pyrenees July 2012 for TdeF, hopefully Miguel will be to. Thx Mark
He will be. He is one of the people behind the bid to get the Tour to Pierre Saint Martin in 2012. http://www.velopeloton.com/forum/tour-de-france-route/2012-tour-de-france-route/
Cheers Paddy. Based on your 2012 route blog, what would a rouugh route for stage from Pau to Pierre Saint Martin. Regards, Mark
Good question! I have no idea, there are several ways to go up PSM from all directions. It is most probable that they will climb it from Arette. How they get there we will not know until they make the announcement. Pau to PSM is 75km, the stage could be anything up to 200km so they will be making a detour for certain, perhaps up Soulor, Aubisque and Marie Blanque, or over Portelet and climb it from the south. The stage may not start in Pau, there has been some talk that it may start from Saint Lary or even in Spain. I will know more in the next 2 months. http://www.velopeloton.com/col-de-la-pierre-saint-martin/ http://www.velopeloton.com/cycling/pierre-saint-martin/ http://www.velopeloton.com/tour-de-france-2012/ http://www.velopeloton.com/forum/tour-de-france-route/2012-tour-de-france-route/
Cheers again Paddy. Have a look at http://www.velowire.com/article/139/en/the-tour-de-france-2012-starts-in-liege.html . All french (me Aussie) however names, towns and climbs all easy to understand. Regards, Mark
